George Hierro is a singer-songwriter, producer, and musician originally from Miami, Florida. He writes and produces music out of his home studio on the beautiful island of Okinawa, Japan, where he enjoys freedive spearfishing and surfing its warm, clear waters.
The son of Cuban refugees, George was exposed to a wide-variety of music genres growing up ranging from classic rock, reggae, hip hop and latin music. He continues to draw inspiration from many kinds of music.
He began studying classical piano and guitar at an early age, and during the early 2000s, he played guitar, keys, and sang in a reggae/rock band out of Orlando, Florida.
After moving to San Clemente, California in 2008, he played frequent gigs across the state, interrupted occasionally by his service with the U.S. Marine Corps in both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These experiences remain a tremendous influence on his songwriting today.
He studied the Indonesian language and culture in college and traveled extensively with his wife, Ana Maria, across Southeast Asia for a full year. He cites spearfishing, surfing, and making lifelong friends on the islands of Sulawesi, Bali, Java, and Sumatra as one of the most memorable and meaningful experiences of his life.
George covers songs spanning several genres and focuses his original work primarily in the folk/indie rock genres often with blues and reggae influences.
